Potato growing competition Occupation VIPs – the weigh in today

The Connétables of St Lawrence and Trinity were delighted to host the Jersey Royals potato weigh-in of their respective parish Occupation VIPs over lunchtime today, Tuesday 17 May 2022, in St Lawrence Parish Hall.

Guests enjoyed a Jersey Royals themed celebration cake from St Lawrence based Daisy’s Country Bakes with a cuppa and reminisced with old friends while also admiring the Jersey Model Boat Club’s display of WWII replica boats, ending with a collection in aid of The Red Cross.  

Open to the public, the community event included some good-natured parish border banter and for good order, John Garton of Genuine Jersey was on hand to judge and verify the results independently. 

With gift bags of fresh Jersey Royals’ potatoes in hand, the VIPs applauded the winners of both St Lawrence and Trinity.

The finalists will next attend the Grand Final event this Thursday 19 May at Grouville Parish Hall at 10.30am, when the winners’ names will be announced.
