Storm Ciaran Update: Roads Inspection This Morning

▶️ Highways Inspectors are assessing roads this morning to determine what work is outstanding

▶️ Islanders advised to think carefully before travelling

▶️ If it is safe to do so, Islanders are asked to check on neighbours, particularly those who are vulnerable

Highways Inspectors from the Infrastructure and Environment (I&E) Department are touring the Island this morning to review the roads that have been cleared of fallen trees and debris, and to determine what is outstanding.

Many roads remain unpassable, and Islanders remain advised to think carefully before leaving home.

Teams from the parishes, emergency services and I&E are continuing to clear roads, but many which have been cleared have overhanging branches which are dangerous and could fall, reconfirming the need for Islanders to only travel if essential.

An update will be made on the roads network later today, once the inspection is complete.

If it’s safe to do so, Islanders are also asked to check on neighbours, friends, and family members, particularly the elderly and those who are vulnerable.

Some households have been affected by power outages and a loss of mobile phone services, and operators are working remotely to restore services and will complete on-site visits when it’s safe to do so.
