IMPORTANT INFORMATION – RED WIND WARNING

Jersey Met has issued a RED wind warning as Storm Goretti approaches.

Expect very strong winds and heavy rain this evening into Friday morning, with the peak between 8pm and 1am. Conditions should improve later on Friday morning.

Current advice

TODAY

– Secure garden furniture, bins, trampolines, and any loose items.

– Keep doors and windows fastened; park vehicles away from trees and walls.

– Plan journeys carefully, allow extra time, and avoid travelling tonight unless essential.

– Share this info with anyone not on social media.

THIS EVENING

– Stay home between 7pm and the early hours and keep away from the coast.

– If you must go out, avoid sea walls, coastal paths, trees, and loose structures.

– Do not attempt repairs or clear debris during high winds.

TOMORROW

– Drive with caution and expect localised flooding and debris.

– Infrastructure are on standby to clear hazards once safe.

Due to the incoming storm overnight and into tomorrow morning there will be delay the start of all collections for Friday 9th of January.

We will update the situation after 8am once the safety of the routes has been assessed.
